If you're just starting your homeschool journey, wondering if it’s even possible to walk your child all the way to graduation—let me assure you: it is.

This past month, I had the incredible honor of standing at the front of the 2025 HHU and UHEA graduation ceremony. The room was filled with graduates and families—some laughing, some teary-eyed, all beaming with pride. And as I looked across that room, what I saw was proof that this path works. It’s not only possible to homeschool all the way to graduation—it’s meaningful, powerful, and deeply rewarding.
These graduates came from all walks of homeschooling. Some had battled anxiety and emerged stronger. Others had done the seemingly impossible: staying the course through challenges that would have made many give up. I met students who had devoured knowledge like it was water in the desert—insatiable, joyful, and alive with curiosity. Some finished early, thriving in a learning environment that matched their pace. Each story reminded me that homeschooling doesn’t have to look one way to be successful.
Perhaps the most beautiful tradition of the day was watching a parent, grandparent, or mentor hand the diploma to their graduate. That simple gesture said everything: we did this together. The proud callouts from siblings—“That’s my sister!”—the hugs, the tears, the grins stretching from ear to ear… those moments spoke louder than any speech ever could.
And then, with a shared breath of anticipation, we invited the graduates to move their tassels from the right side of their caps to the left. That small movement, steeped in tradition, marked a powerful transition: from high school student to graduate. Pomp and ceremony have a place in our lives for this very reason—they help us pause and honor the truly significant milestones.
So, if you’re at the beginning of this road, let me encourage you: this isn’t just a dream. With love, intention, and perseverance, you can walk this path all the way to the finish line. And when you get there, we’ll be here, celebrating right alongside you.
